Now this is a story all about how
My taste buds got flipped, turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I found a sandwich so rare

In west Philadelphia born and raised
Eating hoagies was how I spent most of my days
Chillin-out, maxin,’ relaxin’ all cool
Eating roast pork outside of the school
Ate so many hoagies it started getting insane
Mom said, “You’re moving to Portland, Maine!”

Packed my bags and got my ticket
Put my walkman on and said, ‘might as well kick it’
The plane landed and when I came out
I pulled up to the shop, looked at the menu with doubt
But just one bite and I knew I was there
The new kingdom of hoagies in the fresh Maine air!
